PVC
Flooring
Installation:
|
When installing flexible floor
coverings it is very important to check the surface
area carefully to assess the following parameters: |
|
1) |
Strength,
especially when the floor will be exposed to
huge loads. |
|
2) |
Evenness,
to calculate the necessary amount of leveling
compound. |
|
3) |
Moisture,
which has crucial impact on the quality of
covering’s adherence to the background.
If the background is in direct contact with
the ground, an insulating layer shall be applied
under the concrete layer. |

Surface
Preparation: The surface area to which the
PVC flooring shall be applied to, shall be: |
|
1) |
Resistant
to loads resulting from floor utilization, |
|
2) |
Dry
- maximum acceptable moisture as measured with
the CM method shall not exceed 2,5% CM for
a cement background, |
|
3) |
Free
from any cracks - all damages shall be repaired
before applying a leveling compound, |
|
4) |
Even
- no beads are acceptable, the surface shall
be smoothed using the leveling compound, |
|
5) |
Smooth
and horizontal - maximum deviation from straight
line shall not exceed 1 mm per 1m of length
and 2 mm per 2 m of length, |
|
6) |
Clean
and dust-free - the surface shall be free from
any dirt and other contamination (paints, mortar,
glue, etc). |
Maintenance:
All PVC floor coverings designed for high-traffic
facilities require careful and regular cleaning.
Regardless of the initial surface quality the utilizations
of the coverings may be satisfying if several basic
cleaning principles are followed. The basic step
to protect the floor from dirt is to use doormats
in the entrance hall. A well designed system of
doormats can absorb up to 80% of dirt.
Initial cleaning:
• After installation the covering shall be thoroughly
swept or vacuumed to remove loose dirt,
• Wash the floor using a mop or a cleaning machine.
Use a detergent solution (pH 7-8) following the
manufacturer’s
recommendations related to the solution concentration.
• Remove the detergent solution using clean water.
Daily cleaning:
• The
covering shall be swept or hovered on a regular
basis,
• Wash the floor using a mop or a cleaning machine.
To avoid the wear of the polyurethane layers use
the concentration of the cleaning agent solution
as recommended by the manufacturer.
